Responsibilities
In this pivotal role, the Applied Agricultural Scientist will:
Lead Innovation Projects: Develop novel, science-backed strategies to enhance productivity while promoting sustainable practices.
Harness Advanced Technology: Utilize drones, IoT devices, and AI-driven platforms to collect and analyze critical agricultural data, improving precision and efficiency in farming operations.
Conduct Extensive Field Trials: Oversee research projects in diverse environments to validate findings and refine solutions tailored to specific crops, climates, and regions.
Optimize Input Use: Develop strategies for the judicious use of fertilizers, pesticides, and water resources to improve cost-efficiency and minimize environmental impact.
Enhance Crop Resilience: Research and develop methods to combat biotic and abiotic stressors, including pests, diseases, and extreme weather conditions.
Foster Knowledge Sharing: Educate farmers and industry professionals on innovative methods, ensuring that solutions are adopted effectively at the grassroots level.
Drive Policy and Advocacy: Collaborate with stakeholders to align agricultural practices with regional and global sustainability goals.
Qualifications

Education:
Ph.D. or Master’s degree in Agricultural Science, Agronomy, Soil Science, Plant Science, or a related discipline.
Experience:
5+ years of experience in applied agricultural research or technology implementation.
Proven track record of designing and executing field trials and publishing research findings.
Technical Skills:
Expertise in GIS mapping, soil sampling techniques, and crop modeling software.
Proficiency in analyzing large datasets using tools like Python, R, or MATLAB.
Familiarity with precision agriculture technologies such as drones, sensors, and automated irrigation systems.
Soft Skills:
Strong project management and organizational skills.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to diverse audiences.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in collaborating with technology startups or agricultural cooperatives.
Knowledge of regenerative agriculture principles and organic farming practices.
Certification in sustainable agriculture or crop consultancy.
Familiarity with machine learning applications in agriculture.
Special Domain Requirements
Field Work: Willingness to travel frequently to field sites, including remote rural areas, to conduct on-site research and training.
Regulatory Compliance: Knowledge of regional agricultural laws and compliance requirements for pesticides, fertilizers, and genetically modified organisms (GMOs).
Technological Adaptability: Ability to learn and work with proprietary software, emerging agricultural tech, and data systems specific to OBS AgroTech’s platforms.
Physical Demands: Capability to conduct outdoor fieldwork in variable weather conditions.
